The Stand

I figured it’s a good time to update since i haven’t been here in ages….

* I’ve been back in Vermont for the month of October. The most wonderful time of the year to be in New England and I’m glad to be around the beautiful leaves, pumpkins and cider donuts from our bakery. Life in Nashville has been sweet, but when the well ran dry, i had no choice to come home and work for a bit. It has worked out well though because foliage is the busiest time of year at our store, so my help has been greatly needed.

* I landed a job in Nashville right before i came home. I’m excited, though it’s only part time so i have to find something else to go with it ASAP if i want to stay in Nashville. I’ll be working here very soon!:

Hooray for discounts!

* I took some photos from outside our store in VT….we had a busy Columbus Day weekend with leaf peepers from all over….

Callie the cat lives at my family’s store in Vermont. She was hired a little over a year ago, along with her sister Moxie, to be the official mice patrol….and most of the time they do their job. It has taken her a year to have enough courage to wander out into the store from the warehouse where she spends much of her time. Most of the employees don’t really like the cats, but Callie is sweet, and she needed to be loved so i adopted her. I’m not even a big cat fan (dogs are better), but i spent time with her when i could while working, giving her treats, petting and playing with her. I taught her not to be afraid to venture out! She is much nicer than Moxie who is full of big attitude. These are pictures of my goodbyes to Callie just before i hoped in the car to move south…i wanted to bring her with, but I’m not sure how potty trained she is….lol. She is just too cute!

I don’t normally have so much to say about cats, since i really don’t like them, but i have another cat story to share. My uncle decided to take in 2 cats to our store last summer to be the official mice patrol. One cat stays in the warehouse and is scared of almost everyone and everything, while the other roams the store as if it owns the place. You’d think we’d have been shutdown already due to health violation of having a cat wonder around in the deli/bakery, but that’s another story for another day…so far no one seems to care. Anyways…

At work this morning, a mom and her little daughter came in to get some coffee and donuts on their way to wherever they were going. I happened to be making coffee and overheard their conversation… “Mommy look! The cat is shopping too!” (the cat that owns the place was wandering around by the coffee at that moment). “Yes, the cat is shopping. What do you think she is shopping for?” said the mom. “She’s buying cat nip of course!”

It was cute and made me chuckle. It’s the simple things in life that can be so entertaining sometimes. 🙂
