Fashion & Beauty

…then by hanging out on Newbury St. in Boston. It’s my favorite street in the world, filled with A-MA-ZING shops, restaurants and one of the best places to people watch. I LOVE going to get my haircut there every couple months and i LOVE that i have the most amazing stylist. I have even gotten my Mother hooked and she loves our stylist too!

Some of  my favorite times in summer can be spent:

– grabbing an ice coffee and strolling up and down the street

– window shopping at all of the stores i can’t afford, flirting with the handsome bodyguards (did i say that out-loud?)

– making my way up the stairs to the top floors in Banana Republic and H&M!

– perusing the ONLY thrift store in the world i actually like, a second hand store filled with designer GOODIES!

I’m just SO happy that summer is here. Bring on the flip-flops, shopping bags and iced lattes! 🙂

Ts-2 at ShopStyle

I like my beauty sleep and have done my share of driving while puttting make up on….but i’ve never seen this before! Until now.

Check out this aptly named TS-2 Nomad Mobile Flat Iron for your wandering lifestyle. Instead of a wall plug, it goes right into your car’s cigarette lighter. It seems like an accident waiting to happen —Can you see a use for this product, (now on sale for $65)?

I am SO not a crafty person. I’ve always hated doing crafts. I STINK at doing crafts.

But for some odd reason, I’ve become very fond of Etsy – “Your place to buy and sell all things handmade”. So i thought I’d share some of my favorite Etsy shops with you, in case you’re crafty and/or just want to go shopping.

Oh, hello friend. (LOVE the name) This girl sells some very chic and super cute jewelry. You can visit her store here. I’d show you my favorite neckclace, but there is only one left and you might grab it before i do!

The Pleated Poppy….This might be my absolute favorite store. I am LOVING her posie headbands like the one above! I won a pouch as a giveaway on her blog this week and OH MY, it’s even cuter in person! She even filled it with a posie, checkbook cover, thumbtacks and a tissue holder. LOVE it! If you have little girls, you will LOVE the posies! You can visit her store here.

Studio Mela….she sells wicked cute prints that if i could, i would adorn my walls with! They are fun, colorful and HAPPY! Visit her store here.

Those are a few of my favorites. If you have any favorite Etsy stores, do share! 🙂

I don’t know if there is any truth to this…but it makes me sad if it is true. I just don’t get scientology AT ALL. It’s so bizarre to me…anyways…read this (i found this on perez hilton, which explains the “wtf”):

We revealed yesterday that Katie Holmes has been wearing gloves and long sleeve shirts to cover her freakily discolored hands.

We thought she was sporting purple hands for her appearance on ABC’s Eli Stone.

But, a few insiders in the know informed us that Katie might have taken part in a Scientology purification ritual that caused her hands to go purple.

According to reports, the purification ritual is called the Purification Rundown or Purif.

Peeps going through the process take ‘vitamin bombs’ to get ‘toxins’ out of their bodies.

A source says that in almost every single case, Scientology founder Hubbard recommends dosages in his teachings that are well above the safe limits, in some cases as much as 142 times more than the toxic level. The side effects of such huge overdoses range from liver damage, hair loss, brain swelling and nausea up to fatal heart and respiratory failure.

The cleanse also prescribes huge doses of something called niacin. A report says large doses of niacin can cause liver damage, peptic ulcers, and skin rashes. Even normal doses can be associated with skin flushing.

Poor Katie.

It Really Is All About Me

I just got home from a wonderful night out to a women’s dinner at the country club, full of awesome conversation, free purses and breakfast for dinner! My mom is part of Stonecroft Ministries and is very involved in the local Christian Women’s club that meets once a month for a lunch at the country club, which includes a fabulous meal, special feature and speaker who shares her testimony. A few times a year they have a night meeting to cater to those who work during the day. Tonight was just incredible. We had 75 women of all different ages come and 6 people who gave their life to Christ!! So awesome!! The best part was that the special feature was….all about PURSES!! We gave away 20 purses to the fastest hands grabbing random objects from within their purse, heaviest bag (we weighed them as they arrived!), most shabby chic and most unusual…it was a hoot! We learned a lot about our handbags and got some valuable tips from the book pictured above. The book discusses why women carry the purses they do and is filled with reminders of why God loves us even through our love for fashion!

Would you want to smell like Hillary Clinton? How about like Barack Obama or John McCain? April Cline hopes you do. The West Virginian woman has created a line of fragrance called Presidential Perfume just in time for the down-and-dirty politickin’ season.

The $25 eaux de parfum and body cremes come in three varieties, each inspired by — but not endorsed by — a different candidate:

  • Hillary: a “delicate floral” with notes of jasmine, violet, rose and musk.
  • Barack: an energetic scent with notes of bergamot and musk.
  • John: McCain’s fragrance incorporates notes of bergamot, water lily, lavender, cool greens, and “frosty musk.”

Although the candidates may have different platforms, it seems they all inspire musky smells. So far, the best-selling scent is Hillary, but Barack is a very close second. And as for John? Cline says the sales are “few and far between.”

So, who would YOU want to smell like?

Based on the descriptions, I would choose the Hillary perfume. Based on who i’m voting for, well that’s a whole ‘nother subject.
